گردو اسراییلی یکی از انواع گردوهای ضیاءآباد میباشد که در زبان عامه تحت عنوان گردوی اسراییلی معرفی شده است که دلایل زیر نادرستی این امر را اثبات میکند:۱- در فلسطین اشغالی نه شرایط مناسبی برای پرورش گردو وجود ندارد و نه به نظر میرسد برنامهی اصلاحی برای تولید چنین گردوهایی داشته باشند.۲- حضور اسرائیلیها در ایران و سازمان عمران دشت قزوین به دههی ۴۰ برمیگردد و با این وجود سن این نوع واریتهها که توسط اسرائیلیها در ایران کاشته شده نباید متجاوز از ۵۰ سال باشد.۳- دلیل سوم اینکه اگر اسرائیلیها با وجود شرایط کشت گردو در فلسطین اشغالی این ژنوتیپ را از آن کشور به ایران آورده باشند حضور خود اسرائیلیها در فلسطین اشغالی به بیش از ۷۰ سال نمیرسد و با این شرایط باید سن درختان کاشته شده حدوداً ۷۰ ساله بیشتر نباشد.این در حالی است که تک درختانی در مناطق کشاورزی ضیاءآباد (حصارخان و خرمدشت) وجود دارند که از نوع قوداقوز و خوشهای میباشند و سنی بیش از ۲۰۰ سال دارند البته میتوان گفت اسرائیلیها در زمان حضور خود در سازمان عمران دشت قزوین با دستیابی و تکثیر بذرهای قوداقوز ضیاءآبادی و پخش آن، این نوع ژنوتیپ را به نام اسرائیلی معرفی کرده اند.
درخت گردو درطول تابستان و زمستان نسبت به گرما و سرمای بیش از حد حساس است. در طول دوره خواب زمستانه، گردو می‌تواند سرمای ۱۱- درجه سانتی گراد را بدون خسارت جدی تحمل کند ولی پس از شروع رشد، سرمای ۲- تا ۳- درجه سانتی گراد موجب از بین رفتن برگها، شاخه‌ها و گلها شده ودر نتیجه محصول کاهش می‌یابد. به علاوه شاخ و برگ درختانی که تا اواخر پاییز به رشد خود ادامه می‌دهند در معرض خسارت سرما قرار می‌گیرد. مقاومت ارقام مختلف گردو نسبت به سرما متفاوت است. دمای بالاتر از ۳۸ درجه سانتی گراد موجب آفتاب سوختگی پوست سبز و چروکیدگی مغز گردو می‌شود و گاهی اوقات نیز میوه‌ها پوک می‌شوند. در رطوبت نسبی کم و دمای بالاتر از ۴۰ درجه سانتی گراد، به گردو خسارت جدی وارد می‌شود. دمای پایین تابستان نیز مناسب نیست زیرا موجب می‌شود میوه‌ها به اندازه کافی پر نشود. هوای خنک در طی فصل رشد، برداشت محصول را به تأخیر انداخته و در نتیجه باغداران متضرر می‌شوند؛ بنابراین هوای خنک و فصل رشد کوتاه از عوامل محدود کننده پرورش گردو هستند. گردو نیز مانند سایر میوه‌ها مناطق معتدله در زمستان به مقدار سرمای معینی نیاز دارد تا خواب آن برطرف شود که به این ترتیب در بهار رشد رویشی و گلدهی کافی خواهد داشت. در صورت عدم وجود سرمای کافی، بازشدن جوانه‌ها و گلدهی نامنظم شده وبه تأخیر می‌افتد واین موجب کاهش محصول و خشک شدن سر شاخه‌ها می‌شود. نیاز سرمایی ارقام مختلف گردو متفاوت است.
